Awareness Program
Awareness Program
WPC Nepal aims to address the root causes of trafficking, gender-based violence, and child marriage. Advocacy programs at the point of origin encourage the community to build early warning and support systems to prevent child and woman trafficking. In rural villages, we partner with members of the local community to raise awareness and prevent trafficking. We also provide Safe Migration Counseling for those accepting jobs abroad. Through our Awareness Program, WPC Nepal has successfully raised awareness to over 2,700 people (2024), with a goal of raising these numbers each year through the impact of the program!
Awareness in Makwanpur District
We recognize that in order to reach our goal of ending human trafficking in Nepal for good, we have to start with the people here, at home. In addition to rural communities, we provide awareness programs at Raksirang Rural Municipality and Hetauda Sub Metropolitan City. We collaborate with local businesses, wards, schools, and organizations to ensure that our programming reaches as many people as possible.
Awareness in Dhading District
Beyond our efforts at home, we have been raising awareness against human trafficking, gender-based violence, and child marriage at Ruby Valley Rural Municipality of the Dhading district. Since 2080 B.S. (2023) we have been working diligently to provide resources and materials to locals to help identify the tools human traffickers use, and prevent future harm from occurring. In addition, we train individuals to notice the signs of domestic violence and warn them against the dangers of child marriage.
Desk Counseling Service at the District Administration Office
WPC has always emphasized the importance of legal migration. At our District Administration Office, we advise the use of authorized airports for transit and stress the need for a clear understanding of visa requirements associated with travel. We provide desk counselling services which assist individuals in acquiring the proper documentation necessary for travel, which helps us to prevent human trafficking one visa at a time.
