About Us

Women Protection Center (WPC) is a non-profit social organization established in 2058 B.S. (2001 A.D.) in Hetauda, Makawanpur, Bagmati province, Nepal. We value Honesty, Empowerment, Compassion, and Teamwork. Through these values, we fight human trafficking by changing the lives of women and children, one person at a time.

Mission: Women's Protection Center seeks to prevent human trafficking as well as protect and empower at-risk women and children through awareness programs, education scholarships, vocational training, and providing shelter and food via our safe homes.

Vision: End human trafficking in Nepal, one woman, one child at a time.

Founder Lila L. Ghising

Lila Ghising has more than 25 years of experience in leadership. She founded two organizations: Women Protection Center(WPC) in Nepal and Friends of WPC Nepal in the USA. In 2001 A.D., she founded Women Protection Center (नारी संरक्षण केन्द्र).

"My Life is not just about me. I grew up in Hetauda, Nepal in extreme poverty. I saw many forms of violence against women and children, especially those of lower castes. I lost friends to the false promises and schemes of human traffickers and never saw them again.

I pledge to devote my life to changing the culture in Nepal. I wanted to give opportunities to women and children who still suffer abuse, neglect, violence, and who have survived human trafficking."
